Mission Statement:
Every child is unique and special, born with special gifts and talents. Our goal is to provide a quality after-school program focused on developing each child to his or her fullest potential to become a great leader and an asset to the community.
Our Philosophy:
Our philosophy is one that puts each student’s goals and full development at the forefront. To that end, recent research from McGraw Hill Education, written by Dr. Annie Snyder, advocates that Social & Emotional Learning is a necessary consideration in educating the whole person.
It is essential to building relationships, emotional and behavioral regulation, and critical decision-making. These competencies play an important role in how people learn and engage with the world around them, but these are not necessarily always innate and require strategic teaching and provision of opportunities for growth in these areas.
Our program promotes the development of the whole child in all aspects, including cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth. We believe in maintaining a balance between academic success and social-emotional health as the best approach to elicit and enhance the greatest potential of each child. In order to achieve that, we have implemented a character-building program called “LEADERSHIP” to help identify the gifts and talents of our children and develop their greatest potentials to serve our communities.
Additionally, we also believe that children learn the best through the use of the five senses involving sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste. Our STEAM programs and hands-on activities help spark children’s curiosity and inspire their creativity.
A STEAM learning environment is a shift from a teacher-centered position to one of teachers as facilitator, and rather STEAM is a student-centered approach to learning that incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics, which offers the student active role in his or her own learning in ways that are both engaging and relevant.
Children access their interests through inquiry, critical thinking and dialogue, which energizes the learning environment to one that is individualized for optimal growth. Furthermore, we provide various practices to accommodate different learning styles and to help children develop lifelong learning skills.
